Rudolph wrote this fifty years ago and it rarely, if ever, seems dated. His research is incredible, but the true challenge with history... For a book on history, pretty good and engaging. Good choice for class. This definitely an esoteric work. In other words, the only reason anyone would find this read enjoyable is if they are involved with post-secondary education in more than a tangential way.
