An amazing adventure story, though the writer does a poor job of weaving the political history of Burma into the story. The history sections are long, boring, and lame. A bizarre and self-serving account of Tuckers walk across Burmaan entirely amateur and haphazard grab at adventurethe book does describe an incredible experience marching with the KIA in 1989 (a crucial moment, before the CPBs collapse, but after the demonetization). Tucker took extensive notes of what was going on around him and later... I am dragging through this book! The writing is so monotonous. I was so excited to learn all about Myanmar and the inside story, especially because we were going on a trip there. All I'm reading about is this guy who risks his own life and the lives of everyone around him for the bragging rights of walking across Burma. What a jerk....
